The E. coli contamination has been traced to a specific range of salad leaves used in various pre-made lunch items. These products include sandwiches, wraps, subs, rolls, and salad bowls from popular retailers like Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Boots, Aldi, Co-op, Morrisons, OneStop, and The Gym Kitchen.
Health Risks
This particular strain of E. coli (STEC) can cause severe illness, including:
- Bloody diarrhoea
- Stomach cramps
- Vomiting
- Fever
In severe cases, it can lead to serious kidney complications.
